Students in the upper grades of Open Wings spend much of their learning day rotating between three blocks. Teachers use the blocks of time to teach content and lead their students through projects and labs. The blocks are 1 hour 20 min in length. This time is broken into 2-3 different learning opportunities. Students learning in multi-aged groups of students who are working at a similar academic level.

Students in the Upper School have kinetic wellness each afternoon and take part in yoga, dance, music, and art rotations each week. The Upper School students have project time each week to work on projects of interest and to extend their classroom learning.
Community visitors and field experiences are a vital part of the Upper School learning experience.
