Dear Open Wings Community,
I’m pleased to announce that we are taking steps forward to start a second campus in the Milwaukee area to serve students who are out of range to attend Open Wings here in Kenosha. We will open our doors at the north campus in the fall of 2025 with students ages 5-7.
There is a dire need for schools in the Milwaukee area (and nationally) to serve neurodiverse students. We’ve received so many phone calls and inquiries that result in families deciding the distance is prohibitive for their children to attend school at our campus.
Our second site will be ideally situated to serve students from a number of districts and communities and pull from a diverse population. We are excited about this next step in the evolution of our Open Wings Learning Community.
Expanding our Open Wings community has many advantages for all of us. We envision our two campus communities working together to enhance one another’s school experiences. We will have more classrooms, more teachers, and a broader network surrounding us. Students will have more friends for field outings and other joint learning experiences.
With this great news, I am also asking for your help. You can powerfully share the story of what can happen for students given the opportunity to learn in an Open Wings classroom. There are many families with the same searching questions that you may have had as you joined our school. We would love to have you share your experience with those families as an Open Wings Ambassador
If you would like to be involved, please join Alicia, Jen, Delaney and I for coffee next Friday, February 14 at 10:00 in the library.
With Open Wings,
Kim
